Saying Thank You

March 12, 2013
Opening Hymns:
Magnify the Lord

“Ten were sick but when they found Jesus had healed them only one turned around. Bowed himself down to the ground and gave praise to the Lord. Oh Magnify the Lord with me exalt his name continually. He has come to set the captives free. Give praise to the Lord.

Scripture Reading:
Psalm 126

When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

Message:
What are you thankful for today? Sometimes it seems we can get out of the habit of saying “thank you”… I use to pray every night, and thank God for the blessings of the day. Then life got busy and I found I was praying less and less. When life fills us with challenges, or when we are in the desert places in our life it can be hard to lift up our voice in praise. In the really dark times in our life it is okay to be sad/angry/upset… however, there are times when remembering the good things can bring us back to still waters.

Stop, pause, and think about your day today or yesterday. What things made you smile, what things brought you joy. What things enabled you to get through the day? Stop, pause, and pray… take the time and energy to thank the one who has given us everything. Without God there is no air, food, water, friends, family, or pets. Every good, kind, and precious thing in life has been given to us by God. Let us always remember to thank Him for our gifts.

Time of Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for all the people that I saw who made me smile. Thank you for pets that give comfort, and activities that add touches of joy to each of our lives. Thank you for the sacrifice of Your Son for us… thank you for sending Him to us to lead by example. Thank you for each and every time you took us by the hand to guide us through life’s challenges. Thank you, thank you, thank you Lord. Amen
