Opening Hymns:
Hallowed Be Thy Name (Red) 17
Great is the Lord (Red) 11

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 121: 1-8

Message: My Greatest Friend
What a comforting scripture. I’ve had a number of nights where I toss and turn and am unable to sleep. Stressors hit me at every turn, and anxiety can prevent my eyes from closing. How comforting then to know that while I’m awake, God is awake as well. He watches over each of us always. When we are crying or hurt, His presence is there to comfort. When we have reached a goal, he is there to rejoice with us. God is our help. It is comforting to know that when it seems as though there is no one to turn to, and no one we can call during the night… we can always call on the Lord. He will answer with his loving presence even though we might not hear or see it.

One of my favorite poems is “footprints” by Mary Stevenson. It is a touching poem that illustrates God’s presence with us during the difficult times in our lives. At times this thought is what keeps me going through the trials and struggles that life brings. Somehow, each time I am able to make it through. Each time God is with us, and when we need Him, He will carry us.

Time of Prayer

Lord thank you for being with us both in the good times and the bad. Protect us today, and watch over us as we face the challenges in life. Comfort us when we are sad. Be with us on sleepless nights. Shield us from our enemies. Give us strength and courage that we may bravely go out and fulfill Your will. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Closing Hymn
Because He Live (Red) 20

May the Lord bless you and keep you: May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace." Amen.

Go in peace, and serve the Lord
Thanks be to God
