Opening Hymns:
I will sing to You (Red) 245
I will follow (Red) 274

Scripture Reading:
Genesis 12: 1-4a

Message:
Following the Leader
Can you imagine being in Abram’s shoes. He is a 74 year old man who has been promised amazing things. The Lord will make Abram into “a great nation” and he will be “blessed” along with those who bless him. How much faith would it take someone to believe these words being said to them at such a rich old age? How much faith would it take someone to act on such a vision? Quite a lot

Sometimes God’s plans are not the same as our plans. At times we are able to visualize our own lives playing out before it ever happens. When we are younger we can look up to people ahead of us in age and see that ‘first I will go to elementary school, then middle school… then high school and then College! After that I want to be _________. I will raise a family…. And so on. However, sometimes our plans are not God’s plans. I’m sure Abram wasn’t thinking that he would live a long life, and then at the age of 75 I will leave my country and my people at that point and go from there. Unexpected circumstances happen, and when we hear the voice of our Lord guiding us, the best thing we can do is follow. Life is so much more interesting and fulfilling when we stop following our plan, and begin to follow God’s.

Time of Prayer
Dear Lord, please lead us to Your will in this day. Guide us as we seek You, and find us when we are lost. Forgive us when we wonder from Your path. Rejoice with us when we are able to follow step by step. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Closing Hymn
In the Lord Alone (Red) 44

May the Lord bless you and keep you: May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace." Amen.

Go in peace, and serve the Lord
Thanks be to God
